Summer programs I know about:
- Junior State of America
- Summer Camps at specific colleges such as: College Specific Programs
- Foreign Exchange: ASSE Summer Programs
Summer Programs I attended and recommend:
- National Student Leadership Conference- I attended Law& Advocacy at Yale University. I was amazing! I loved it! I was worth every penny! The only thing bad was the cockroach in our dorm 🤣
- Not a program but I would recommend looking at colleges you are interested in!
- Congress of Future Physicians and Medical Leaders- I did enjoy the program, but it felt very rushed for the fact that it was $1000. Also they kept on trying to sell more summer programs which made me feel as if they only cared about money. We were put in a big stadium (8,600 student plus relatives) so there was no real one on one with any of the amazing speakers. The speaker list was great though. There were multiple noble prize winners and other established professionals. Sadly, it wasn't like Yale where you were put in a small group of students so you actually could make friends. It was also incredible exhausting because it would be from 8am-11pm with 2 breaks for lunch and dinner.
- EF Global Leadership Program- I participated in the 2019 Global Leadership Summit in Davos and before that we had a tour of Austria and Switzerland. Sadly, the tour felt very rushed and whenever there was a buck to save I feel like they did (keep in mind the tour is about $6000). We had 3 different flights going there and back where we all sat somewhat different in the plane, which if they would care about the student safety they might try to keep us all together on 1 or 2 flights. Our "local" guide was not local. He was from Romania and spoke broken German (and my first language is German so I know 100% it was broken). And there was so much encouraged Cultural appropriation, I can't even name it all. The little groups to build a prototype felt very rushed and all students agreed they could have done without. The speakers were amazing though. I GOT TO SIT NEXT TO DAVID HOGG!!!!!!That was literally the best part of the trip besides being able to talk German again the first time, with someone besides my mom, in 3 years. → I recommend traveling yourself maybe with family instead of this.
